WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - October 27, 2006 (WPVI) -- A new state law designed to protect victims of identity theft crimes will take effect tomorrow.
The Identity Theft Passport Act provides victims who complete an application process with a laminated card with a photo that they can show to police. Victims may also present the card to creditors to aid in investigation of bogus charges.
After identity theft victims file a police report they may apply for the passport from the police agency or through the Consumer Protection Unit of the Attorney General's Office.
